Hi my name is Julie and my partner, Neil and I, are the franchisees for Animals at Home Charnwood. We have two children living at home and two dogs, Alfie Bean the Westie and Kaspars the Basset ( Who has just received a 1st & 3rd rosette at the Queni Qufts)

Whilst out walking with dogs one day, I mentioned to Neil that I could quite happily do this all day and hopefully make a living out of it. He responded by saying “why don’t you do something about it then!” So after 4 years I have given up my job as an Office Manager for an engineering firm, and changed my career path.

I have grown up with cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters & not forgetting the fairground goldfish and have also taken on the role of carer when the children no longer want the responsibility of their chosen pet that month!

Neil works in Derbyshire for the Civil Service and helps on the rare occasion that he is given a day off. He has grown up with fish and budgies and has previously been owned by a tri colour basset hound called Harvey.

We have recently returned from our training at a Veterinary surgery in the Isle of Wight, which covered animal handling pet care and first aid for animals, we are now looking forward to putting our newly acquired skills into practise.
